PRIDE SIGN HUSKY HEROES

Donny Marshall and Ricky Moore join CBA Champs
1999.10.28
Today the Connecticut Pride announced two familiar names to UConn basketball fans, Donny Marshall and Ricky Moore, have decided to stay at home and play for the 1998-99 CBA Champions. The news came at a 3:00 p.m. press conference at the State Armory in Hartford.
Marshall, a 1995 UConn graduate, is a former second round NBA draft pick. After averaging 15.8 ppg and 5.8 rpg as a senior for the Huskies in 1994-95, Marshall was selected 39th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1995 NBA draft. He played in 90 games for the Cavaliers in his two seasons with the team (1995-1996, 1996-1997). Marshall saw action in 34 contests as a rookie in 1995-96, averaging 2.3 ppg. In his second season with Cleveland, he upped his scoring average to 3.1 ppg and appeared in 56 games. The 6-foot-7 forward most recently played in the L.A. Summer League with the Toronto Raptors before exploring his options with the Pride.
Moore, a 1999 UConn graduate, helped lead the Huskies this past season to their first ever National Championship. The three-year co-captain played in a UConn-record 134 games over his career. He was honored in 1998-99 by being named Defensive Player-of-the-Year by the Basketball News. The 6-foot-2 guard was also named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team and NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team. Moore averaged 6.9 ppg and 3.0 rpg for his career.
Both players look to be a perfect fit for Coach Tyler Jones' up-tempo, in-your-face style of play. The Pride's 1999-2000 season gets underway on Nov. 19 when they host the Rockford Lightning at 7:05 p.m. in the Lion's Den at the State Armory in Hartford.
