PRIDE ACQUIRE KIRK KING

Another former Husky may return to Connecticut
1999.11.09
Today the Connecticut Pride announced they have acquired the rights to former UConn Husky, and 1997-98 Pride team member, Kirk King in a trade with the Rockford Lightning. In return for the rights to King, Connecticut sent Rockford its fourth-round pick in next year's (2000) CBA Draft.
King, a 1997 fifth-round CBA draft pick of the Pride, played in 48 games in his first professional season in 1997-98, averaging 10.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg. In the offseason, the Pride traded King to La Crosse.
In 1998-99, King played in 48 regular season CBA games with the La Crosse Bobcats and Rockford Lightning. In 16 games with La Crosse, the 1997 UConn grad averaged 7.6 ppg and 6.4 rpg. King also averaged 9.8 ppg and 4.7 rpg in 32 appearances with the Lightning. During Rockford's first-round playoff defeat to the Pride, King increased his scoring average to 13.0 ppg.
The Pride's 1999-2000 season gets underway on Nov. 19 when they host the Rockford Lightning at 7:05 p.m. in the Lion's Den at the State Armory in Hartford.
