Pride resign Kevin Ollie
Another former Husky returns to Connecticut
1999.11.11
Today the Connecticut Pride announced that veteran point guard Kevin Ollie has resigned with the team and will be at his first practice tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the State Armory in Hartford.
Before rejoining the Pride, Ollie was most recently in training camp with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. After being waived on October 29, he decided his best option was to come back to Connecticut and help the Pride to another CBA Championship.
"It was such a good feeling to help the Pride win the (CBA) Championship last year," Ollie said. "I think the best thing for me now is to go out and play hard and try to bring another CBA Championship to the Pride. And at the same time hopefully the scouts will come out to watch me play and I can make it back to the big show."
After spending parts of the 1998-99 season with the Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic on the NBA, Ollie returned to the Pride in time for the playoffs in April.
During the Pride's championship run, the 1995 UConn alum averaged 14.8 ppg, 5.0 apg and 1.6 spg. In 1997-98, Ollie was named a CBA first-team American Conference All-Star after averaging 19.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 4.5 apg in 24 games with the Pride. He also appeared in 35 regular season NBA games with Dallas and Orlando in 1997-98.
The Pride's 1999-2000 season gets underway on Nov. 19 when they host the Rockford Lightning at 7:05 p.m. in the Lion's Den at the State Armory in Hartford. For ticket information, please contact the Pride office at 860-678-8156 or toll free at 888-88-PRIDE.
