John Treloar

Head Coach
One of only four active CBA head coaches with a CBA Championship ring, John Treloar returned to the sidelines last year after taking the 1995-96 season off. A veteran of six CBA campaigns, Treloar entered the 1996-97 CBA season with the 13th-best winning percentage in league history (148-132, .529). In addition, the 39-year-old wass tied for seventh for the most playoff victories all-time with 22, and had the 14th best playoff winning percentage in CBA history at .512 (22-21).
In 1994-95, Treloar led the former Chicago Rockers franchise to a 28-28 regular season record and a trip to the American Conference finals, where they were upended by the Pittsburgh Pirhanas 3-0.
During the 1993-94 season, Treloar guided the Wichita Falls Texans to a 26-30 record and a second place finish in the Western Division. His club featured two of the league's top performers in guard Stephen Bardo, who was named CBA Defensive Player of the Year, and All-League First Team member Henry James. The Texans were defeated in the first round of the National Conference playoffs by the Rapid City Thrillers (3-2).
In 1992-93, Treloar guided the Texans to a franchise-best 34-22 record and a first-ever Western Division title. The Texans 21-7 homecourt mark was fourth best in the league. Whichita Falls was eliminated in the first round of the CBA Playoffs, 3-2 by the eventual champion Omaha Racers.
Treloar's 1991-92 Texans squad posted a 28-28 record and finished second in the Southern Division. Wichita Falls lost to Rapid City, 3-1, in the second round of the 1992 CBA Playoffs.
After beginning the 1990-91 season with a 16-22 record, Treloar's club won 16 of its final 18 games to finish at 32-24 overall. In the National Conference playoffs, Wichita Falls upset both division champions -- Tulsa (3-1) and Albany (4-2). The Texans then edged Quad City, 4-3, in a dramatic 1991 CBA Finals. Treloar became just the second coach in league history to win a CBA championship in his first season. The turnaround helped Treloar finish second to Albany's George Karl (currently with the NBA's Seattle Supersonics) in the 1991 CBA Coach of the Year balloting.
Treloar returned to the Texans franchise in 1990-91 after taking a year off to pursue personal business endeavors. He had previously served as the club's general manager for two seasons (1987-89). Treloar worked in the dual role of general manager/coach in 1991-92.
From 1982-86, he was head coach of the Olympic Sports Club in Bremerhaven, Germany. During the 1986-87 season he was head coach of the Steiner Optik Club in Bayreuth, Germany.
Treloar's coaching career began at the University of Alabama, where he served as academic counselor and graduate assistant coach for two seasons (1980-82). He earned a master's degree in behavioral sciences from Alabama in 1980, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bellhaven College in 1978.
A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Treloar lettered in basketball and baseball at Clinton High School. Born October 25, 1956 in Jackson, Miss., Treloar's wife's name is Debra.
